In the photo above, you will see two hypotrich ciliates (yes, you may have seen this photo before). The ciliate uppermost in the photo has been identified as being from the genus Aspidisca. This genus is in the same order as the previously mentioned genus Euplotes. The ciliate on the bottom is from the genus Uroleptus.
The picture may look a bit blurry. That’s only because ciliates can be very fast and very hard to photograph.
