3 Examples of Ciliates

Presented in this photomicrograph are 3 common examples of major ciliate types: Stentor, a heterotrich, is the large, trumpet-like ciliate. Euplotes, a hypotrich, is rather small compared to the Stentor, and possess cirri rather than conventional cilia. And lastly, Paramecium, a holotrich (keep in mind that Holotricha has long since beenn dissolved as a formal taxon), which features short cilia encompassing the body.
